The greatest la mians in Qingdao aren’t to be found in this area, which may lead you this way in less than perfect circumstances to get your fix. A relatively good-looking la mian laced with thin slices of beef is incredibly greasy and, unless this is to your liking, which for myself and Rudi it certainly is not, this place is worth a miss.

How long that this rather unhomely la mian joint, located two shops down from the Italian Trattoria Verda in Zhongshan Square, will be able to hold onto their valuable piece of real estate with the current area’s development is a matter of conjecture. Though with the subway construction appearing far from abating, it is clinging on.

Rudi works around the corner, and hence gave this place its name.
